Bear Lake

How many of you have ever been to Bear Lake’s Quick and Tasty for a raspberry shake? Or had an “Old Ephraim” size pizza at Bear Lake Pizza? Or walked into the sandy warm water of Bear Lake for a quarter mile before it reached your waist?

Pick us! Pick us! We have.

It’s a great place for a family reunion. In fact we just got back from Bear Lake a week ago!

Okay, only a few of us went this year. Our family’s getting older and it gets harder and harder to get everyone together. But we had a great time, as always.

Bear Lake – or the “Caribbean of the Rockies” – is a natural freshwater lake on the Utah/Idaho border. You drive through the winding lush mountains just past the city of Logan and then, boom! You’re hit with the sight of a massive turquoise-blue body of water about 50-miles around. The only thing better than the view from a distance it the warm, clear, sandy experience from inside the water. It’s the closest thing to being at the beach that we’ve found. Maybe even a little better.

Nothin' like the raspberry shakes at Bear Lake

In Eric’s painting above, he’s spotlighted some of the fun tourist sights and destinations of Garden City, the small town closest to the lake. It’s a great place and a popular resort for people all over the western United States. Another thing it’s popular for is their high quality raspberries. They make the best shakes during raspberry season!
